“Ultimately, there’s one investment that supersedes all others: Invest in yourself.” According to one of the world’s richest men Warren Buffett.
Imagine being more calm, more focused, more confident, more disciplined, and in better shape. Would improvement in these areas help you at work? At home? In your relationships? With your health? Of course!
These are all attributes that are cultivated through martial arts training. Committing to the process. Making the effort every week to carve out a few hours for your own personal development. To see these improvements in your life, it’s very simple: set your goal to black belt and keep at it until you get there. Simple, simple, simple. I’d be lying though if I told you it’ll be easy! The challenge is what makes it so worthwhile.
Having now earned two black belts (in Brazilian jiu-Jitsu and Judo), I can tell you- it does feel good to receive them. It feels really good! But what is even more important is the transformation that takes place. The person you have to become to reach such a challenging goal. Once you’ve done it, other big goals that used to scare you, don’t seem as scary. Those things you tried to convince yourself you didn’t really want because you thought you could never attain, start to look a lot more attainable.
You can do it! And you don’t have to have the entire journey mapped out. All you have have to do is take the first step and walk through the door!
Dojo Kyle is the top martial arts school in Kyle/Buda. Founded in 2011 by Ryan Shinto, Dojo Kyle offers classes for kids ages 5 and up designed to develop the critical building blocks they need for school excellence and later success in life. Dojo Kyle’s adult program is structured as a complete fitness and conditioning program for adults who want to lose weight, get (and stay) in shape or learn self-defense in a supportive environment.
Will Caldwell is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and Judo black belt. He graduated from Texas State University and became involved in martial arts while in college. He was one of Ryan Shinto’s first students at Dojo Kyle and believed so much in the life changing results of training (from experiencing it himself!), that he was offered a larger role at the school and became part owner- dedicating his time and energy to teaching and helping people get involved in martial arts!
