Dojo Promotions- Two New Black Belts and More!
Wow what a great weekend! We had 5 students graduate to their next ranks. All well earned and deserved promotions!
Noah, Yellow & Black belt
Steve, Blue Belt
DJ, Purple belt
Coach Ellen, Black Belt
Coach Stephen, Black Belt
In the past I have heard instructors say they gave someone a promotion. I am happy to report that we don’t give ‘em out, they are earned! Every belt is a huge accomplishment and something to be proud of, but I want to single out the black belts and share their words on their promotions because it is such a huge milestone…
Coach Stephen said: I don’t know if I have the words for today. All I can say right now is thank you to the support for over a decade of work and just showing up. From my wife Sonya L. Teves my kids. To my coaches. To all my training partners! tagging as many as I can, and my partners only on insta ctc_tx, DJ, and the many more!! The list goes on and on!! thank you thank you!!
Coach Ellen Said: Wow! It’s pretty surreal to be able to say that I’m a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
@dojokyle has been a key part of my life over the past ten years.
The amount of appreciation and love I have for my coaches and peers who’ve helped me reach this point can’t be put into words.

Based on my observations over the years, to become a black belt, it boils down to three things:
1. Show up consistently
2. focus on the work for that day
3. Try your best
A simple formula for success, but it’s not easy to commit to the 10+ years of execution. For those of you who choose to commit to it, your future self is going to say THANK YOU!
Congrats again everyone. Let’s keep up the great work we’re all doing together at the dojo.
