Adult Belt Promotions This Weekend: A Huge Milestone!

In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, promotions in the adult belt system come slower than in many martial arts—and even slower than in kids’ jiu-jitsu. With only five belt ranks in the adult program from white to black, each promotion is a huge milestone!

This weekend, we celebrated four students reaching new levels in their jiu-jitsu journey:

  • Nick – Blue Belt
  • Michelle – Purple Belt
  • Josh – Purple Belt
  • Brandon – Purple Belt

We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and progress. Earning a blue belt marks the transition to the intermediate rank, while the purple belt takes dedication, typically 4-5 years, and represents the first advanced rank.

Seeing these students succeed reminds me of the saying: “The secret is, there is no secret.” These students didn’t take shortcuts or rely on special tricks. They showed up consistently, stayed focused, asked questions, and put in the work. That’s the simple formula for success in jiu-jitsu (and a lot of other things too) that anyone can follow!

But simple doesn’t mean easy. That’s why promotions are such a big deal. It’s not just about earning a new belt; it’s about what that belt represents: commitment, persistence, self-discipline, and the belief that the hard work is worth the sacrifice.

So, once again, CONGRATULATIONS to Nick, Michelle, Josh, and Brandon on your amazing achievement! To all our students, know that your coaches and training partners are here to support you as you work toward your own jiu-jitsu goals. Whether you’re a current student or someone thinking about getting started, remember: the journey may be challenging, but the rewards are well worth it!

Thank you,

Will Caldwell

Back-to-School Supply Drive Was a Success!

Thank you to all of our students and local businesses who contributed to our back-to-school drive!

I couldn’t do an official count, but we collected over 130 backpacks, thousands of pencils, and hundreds of markers, glue sticks, crayons, folders, and notebooks. Wow, it was a lot to load up and I know the schools are going to appreciate the support!
